Aggies Avoid Bulldog Sweep With Sunday Win

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The 21st-ranked Texas A&M Aggies avoided an SEC series sweep by sixth-ranked Georgia, posting a 18-5 win Sunday at Blue Bell Park.

  • Senior designated hitter Jordy Oriach led off the second inning with his third home run of the series. It was his fifth home run of the year and made it 2-1.
  • Sophomore Rylan Lujo hit a two-run home run in the seventh for his third of the season.
  • Freshman Ty Peeples delivered a pinch-hit two run double in the sixth for his first collegiate hit.
  • Sophomore LHP Kenny Ishikawa made his third start and was lifted after 2.1 innings when the Aggies built a 5-1 advantage for their first lead of the series.

  • Today marked the first time this year that the Bulldogs have been run-ruled after posting 10 run-rule wins this season.
Key Quote
Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Wes Johnson
On Sunday's game…
"As good as we played the first two games, we did a 180 degree difference today. It was a polar opposite. You tip your hat to this Aggie team today. They did a good job, and we didn't throw strikes today. I tried a lot of different guys but if you're not throwing strikes, you get behind and then serve up fastballs they're going to get hit. I told the hitters when we made the line change, let's see who gets in there and shows me a good at bat. Ty Peeples did that and got his first hit."
