PULLMAN, Wash. – On a balmy summer afternoon on the Palouse, the University of Georgia soccer team earned a 1-1 tie against Washington State Sunday afternoon before 824 spectators at Lower Soccer Field.

- Georgia (4-1-1) controlled the pace of play, outshooting Washington State (0-1-2) by a 12-5 margin, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on frame. Freshman forward Mya Townes led all players with four shots, including her first career goal, while redshirt junior midfielder Summer Denigan's scoring streak ended at four matches with a three-shot effort. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Folliard allowed her first goal since the season opener against UCLA but did record a save.
- Washington State opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Ava Ghoreishi crashed the net on a free kick by teammate Keara Fitzgerald, dislodging the ball from Folliard and knocking it into the net.
- After a relatively quiet first half, Georgia ratcheted up the pressure, outshooting the Cougars, 8-1, in the final 45 minutes. Townes, stopped on her first two shots, finally scored her first goal for the Bulldogs in the 69th minute. Senior forward Sage Glover forced the Cougars' keeper out of the net before finding Townes inside for the equalizer.
- The Bulldogs tallied two final shots in the final five minutes, both coming from Denigan who was looking for her fifth-consecutive winning goal. With just over a minute remaining, Denigan's free kick was on line, but Fitzgerald guessed correctly and made the diving save to preserve the tie.
