No. 9/12 Georgia Tops GW, No. 20/20 Auburn to Reach Dual Meet Tournament Final

ATLANTA – The University of Georgia swimming and diving teams bested George Washington and Auburn to reach the finals of The Dual Meet Invitational Friday at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Georgia will face the winner of Friday's Florida State-NC State semifinal in the championship match on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

First Round – No. 9/12 Georgia 492, George Washington 289
- Georgia won 19 events on the way to a comfortable victory over George Washington, including a sweep of all four relays. Freshman Kennedi Dobson won two events, posting an NCAA cut time of 1:53.92 in the 200y backstroke, followed by a winning 1:58.96 in the 200y IM. Junior Tomas Koski also picked up a pair of wins, taking the 200y freestyle with an NCAA cut of 1:32.19 and prevailing in the 50y freestyle at 20.01.
- Graduate Luca Urlando touched first in the 100y butterfly with an NCAA time of 44.94, the second-fastest mark in the country this season. Urlando later led off the 400y medley relay with a 44.89 backstroke leg, the fifth-fastest time in program history. Urlando teamed with Cale Martter, Drew Hitchcock, and Tomas Koski to take the closing relay at 3:08.89.
- Two of Georgia's German rookies earned their first career victories: first, Finn Wendland took first in the 100y breaststroke at 54.88, followed by Sascha Macht in the 200y IM at 1:48.23. Fellow first year Sean Green also grabbed his first victory, going 4:22.70 in the 500y freestyle.
- On the women's side, sophomore Katie Belle Sikes won the 50y freestyle (22.84), while senior Ieva Maluka notched the 200y freestyle (1:45.81). Senior Olivia Della Torre finished first in the 100y butterfly (53.84), followed by a victory from sophomore Charlotte Headland in the 100y breaststroke.
- Junior Matthew Bray continued his strong season in diving, sweeping the three-dive springboard events with scores of 118.50 (1-meter) and 150.75 (3-meter).
Semifinals – No. 9/12 Georgia 400, No. 20/20 Auburn 382
- In a competitive match, Georgia closed out with a bang in the men's 400y medley relay as senior Ruard van Renen, sophomore Elliot Woodburn, Urlando, and Koski earned an NCAA automatic cut of 3:02.66, the second-fastest mark in program history. In the leadoff position, van Renen opened with an NCAA cut of 45.02 in the 100y backstroke.
- Urlando also posted the 10th-fastest 100y freestyle time in program history with his winning time of 42.17. van Renen won the 100y backstroke with an NCAA cut of 45.42, with Koski taking the 500y freestyle at 4:18.76. Hitchcock earned a pair of victories in the 200y butterfly and 200y IM.
- Maluka led the Georgia women with two victories, turning in an NCAA cut time of 1:57.68 in the 200y IM, along with a winning time of 1:57.14 in the 200y butterfly. Dobson won the 500y freestyle with an NCAA time of 4:36.80, while fellow freshman Elizabeth Nawrocki also posted an NCAA mark of 2:09.96 in the 200y breaststroke.
- Bray finished first on 3-meter with a score of 201.60 before placing second on 1-meter at 174.20.
