Herring and Kowase Punch Ticket to NCAA Doubles Final Four

ATHENS, Ga.--The second-seeded doubles duo of Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase advanced to the NCAA Doubles Semifinals, beating the No. 35 ranked pair of Victoria Kisialeva and Blair Shankle of Baylor, 6-3, 6-1.

The win, which was completed in just over an hour, is the pair's They will square off with the No. 15 ranked pair of Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger of Auburn on Sunday at 4 p.m.

"I knew they were a very tricky team," Kowase said. "We just wanted to hit our balls and that worked. We try to just have fun on the courts. That was the best match of my life, so I am just so happy."

Herring talked about the impact that the crowd had on Saturday's win.

"It is a huge advantage for us and everyone knows that when we get a little momentum, it turns into a lot of momentum and I think that is because of the crowd. When they are having fun, we are having fun, and that makes for good tennis."

No Georgia pairing has ever won the NCAA doubles championship, but Bulldog teams have reached the finals four times, including Chelsey Gullickson and Nadja Gilchrist in 2012.
