ATHENS-----Georgia gymnastics signee Natalie Vaculik will enroll at UGA this fall and compete for the Gym Dogs in 2015, head coach Danna Durante announced on Monday. Vaculik, a member of the Canadian national team, signed with the Gym Dogs in April.
"We are proud of Natalie's accomplishments at the elite level, and we're excited for her to join the Gym Dog family," Durante said. "Not only will she bring a great deal to our program with her international competitive experience, but she is a bright young woman and a tremendous student. We are looking forward to having Natalie here in Athens."
Vaculik placed first on bars at the Elite Canada competition earlier this year and finished second while leading Canada to a second place finish at the 2013 Massilia Open in France. She was fifth at the Massila Masters international competition.
"I'm excited to be at UGA this fall because I really love the atmosphere inside and out of the gym," Vaculik said. "I'm very much looking forward to training with my teammates and contributing to the team as a Gym Dog."
Vaculik also placed fifth on bars at the Cottbus World Cup in Germany in March and finished second in the all-around at the 2013 Canadian Championships. She trained at Gemini Gymnastics and was coached by Elena Davydova and Valery Yachybekov.
"I am excited to have Natalie joining us this year," senior Chelsea Davis said. "As a senior I was hoping to get the opportunity to be her teammate this coming season. She is going to be a great asset for this team, and we can't wait to welcome her to the South."
