ATHENS, Ga. --- Members of the Georgia women's golf team got their Halloween celebrations off to an early start on Thursday morning but assisting with the Halloween Festival at Hope Haven.

Hope Haven of Northeast Georgia, Inc. is a private nonprofit corporation whose primary purpose is to provide services for individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in the Athens-Clarke and surrounding counties.

The participation was spearheaded by sophomore Sylvie Brick, who along with Amelia Hill represents the women's golf team on the UGA Athletic Association's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

"Some times we are so focused on our sport that we forget how lucky and how blessed we truly are," Brick said. "Just to come out here and help make somebody's day is such a rewarding experience. It's good for anyone, but I think it's especially good for us as a team to take a step back and be grateful for all that we have."

The team took part following its early-morning workout, assisting with games such as pin the hat on Frankenstein, pass the pumpkin, a "Haven Haunted" house and a putting contest.
