ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's Emilie Burger carded a 3-over 75 in Thursday's third round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at the University of Georgia Golf Course, leaving her in 72nd place at 227 entering the final round.
For the second straight day, Burger teed off from No. 10 and played the back half of the course first.
She turned at 1-over after a double-bogey at No. 12 and a birdie at No. 15. Bogeys at No. 2 and No. 6 pushed her to 3-over. Burger regained a shot with a birdie at No. 3 but gave that stroke back at No. 9, her final hole of the day.
"I'm hitting it well," Burger said. "I hit a lot of greens and I hit a lot of fairways. I just didn't make a lot of putts. The greens are tough out here. There are a lot of subtle breaks. I'm stroking it well and they're just not going in. Maybe it's just not my week. Some times you have those weeks. I'm rolling it well. Tee-to-green I'm playing really well. I'm just not making any putts. A lot of tap-in pars."
In 10 tournaments prior to the NCAAs, Burger has notched nine top-20 and five top-10 individual finishes. She won medalist honors at both the Mason Rudolph Championship in the fall and the Bryan National this spring.
Burger will wrap up her collegiate career on Friday, teeing off at 12:45 from No. 10. She will then make her professional debut in a U.S. Open qualifier at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, N.C.
