ATHENS, Ga. - Incoming Georgia equestrian Eva Marcelis took home several top honors at the 2014 World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show in Fort Worth, Texas. The Seattle, Washington native won the World Championship in both 16-18 Horsemanship and 18 & Under Novice Showmanship at Halter. She also took home Reserve Championship honors in 18 & Under Novice Horsemanship, 14-18 Bareback Horsemanship and 16-18 Trail.
“Eva had a tremendous show,” Associate Head Coach Mary Meneely said. “I am so proud of her and can’t wait for her to compete as a Georgia Bulldog. She is well-equipped to begin her collegiate career!”
In 16-18 Horsemanship, Marcelis edged her opponents by posting a total score of 345. Her total of 345 was 50 points higher than the second-place finisher. Her score of 330 in 18 & Under Novice Showmanship at Halter bested the next best score by 53 points, giving her a second World Championship.
Continuing her hot streak, Marcelis then scored a 306 in 18 & Under Novice Horsemanship. She followed the performance with a Reserve Title in 14-18 Bareback Horsemanship with a score of 260. Marcelis wrapped up competition with a Reserve Championship in 16-18 Trail after posting a 301.
