ATHENS, Ga. – McKenzie Lantz of the University of Georgia equestrian team has been selected to represent the National Collegiate Equestrian Association in the 2013 NRHA Collegiate Reining Championship, which will be held on June 29 at the NRHA Reining Derby in Oklahoma City.
Lantz joins three of the other top four reiners from the 2012-13 season. Also selected to ride in the event are Katy Krshka (Oklahoma State), Indy Roper (Auburn), and Laura Dunlavy (South Dakota State). Oklahoma State's Jenna Blumer is the first alternate and Baylor's Shelbey Jackson is the second alternate.
Lantz was a First Team All-American and All-SEC honoree and was also named the SEC Rider of the Year in Reining. A two-time SEC and NCEA Rider of the Month, she finished the 2012-13 season with a 13-3 record that included four MOP honors. She entered the NCEA Championship on a 12-meet win streak and posted a season-best score of 74 against Texas A&M to close out the regular season before posting a 2-0 mark in the SEC Championship.
The Collegiate Reining Championship consists of 12 riders - four from the NCEA, four from the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, and four that are selected by the NRHA.
