Lady Bulldogs Trek Away From Athens

No. 22-ranked Georgia ventures from the friendly confines of Stegeman Coliseum for the first time this season on Friday when it faces George Washington in the opening round of Georgia State University's Thanksgiving Invitational.

The tip time for the match-up between Lady Bulldogs and Colonials is listed as 4:15 p.m.; however, the contest will actually begin 30 minutes after the completion of the day's first game between Georgia State and Jacksonville State, which begins at 2:00 p.m.

Georgia christened its 2013-14 campaign with a perfect 6-0 homestand which included solid victories of traditional nCaa tournament teams ohio state and Georgia tech. Tiaria Griffin leads a quartet of double-digit scoring averages for the Lady Bulldogs at 14.0 ppg. Atlanta native Khaalidah Miller (12.5 ppg), Alpharetta native Erika Ford (11.7 ppg) and Shacobia Barbee (11.0 ppg) also chip in points at a double-figure pace. Krista Donald is Georgia's top rebounder at 8.3 rpg.

George Washington sports a 3-1 record featuring an impressive upset of no. 10 California and a lone loss to No. 8 Maryland. Megan Nipe tops the Colonials' offensive production at 19.5 ppg, including a career-high 31 in the upset of Cal. Danni Jackson and Chakecia Miller add 12.5 ppg and 10.0 ppg, respectively. Brooke Wilson's 8.3 rpg leads George Washington on the glass.
