ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia junior Morgann Leleux has been named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Texas A&M Invitational, according to a league announcement on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs have now won six SEC weekly honors this season. Georgia sophomore Chanice Porter split this same honor last week after a season-best mark in the long jump.
Leleux, a native of New Iberia, La., won her third meet of the season after clearing a season-best pole vault mark of 14 feet, 2 inches on her first try at the height. This was the top effort by Leleux indoors since she reached a career-high mark of 14-9 during the 2013 season.
Leleux, who won her event by nearly a foot over the weekend, moved into a tie for the sixth spot nationally and is No. 2 in the SEC with just over a week remaining before the conference meet.
Georgia could send competitors to the Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., this weekend and is booked for a trip to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Championships on February 27 through March 1.
