KAZAN, Russia --- Georgia's Laura Ryan finished as the top American in women's 10-meter platform diving on Monday at the World University Games.
Ryan, a rising senior for the Lady Bulldogs, rolled up 292.00 points to come in fifth in the competition. Ryan was fewer than 21 points away from medaling in the event. The top three spots went to Yulia Koltunova of Russia (347.35), Yuhua Xia of China (335.75) and Ni Chen of China (312.45).
Also Monday on tower, Ryan placed seventh in the prelims with 277.70 points and 11th in the semifinals with 244.40 points.
Ryan is scheduled to compete in the 3-meter springboard competition beginning on Tuesday.
