SANTA CLARA, Calif. --- Megan Romano had a victory to highlight Georgia's showing in the Arena Grand Prix at Santa Clara last weekend.
Romano, who completed her eligibility in March after leading the Lady Bulldogs to the national championship, won the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 54.16. Allison Schmitt, who also wrapped her college career in March, was fifth in 55.52.
Schmitt claimed second in the 200-meter freestyle in 1:58.29, while rising senior Shannon Vreeland was seventh in 2:01.50 and Romano placed eighth in 2:02.77.
Schmitt came in third in the 400-meter freestyle as she stopped the clock in 4:11.97. Vreeland took fifth in 4:12.26.
Rising sophomore Chantal Van Landeghem placed fourth in the 50-meter freestyle as she posted a time of 25.46. Romano finished fifth in 25.49.
Rising sophomore Annie Zhu went 2:27.42 to come in fourth in the 200-meter breaststroke.
Rising junior Amber McDermott came in fifth in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:46.77.
Zhu was sixth in the 400-meter individual medley in 4:48.53, while McDermott was eighth in 4:51.47.
Romano came in sixth in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:02.13.
On the men's side, rising sophomore Chase Kalisz was second in the 400-meter individual medley (4:11.85), third in the 200-meter individual medley (2:01.11) and seventh in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:15.57).
The meet was the final stop on the 2012-13 Arena Grand Prix Series. Next up is the Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championships Trials June 25-29 in Indianapolis, Ind.
