ATHENS, Ga. - University of Georgia senior volleyball player Nicole Choi has been named to the Southeastern Conference Volleyball Community Service Team, it was announced today.
“I'm so honored to be named to the SEC Community Service Team,” Choi said. “I hope I've made an impact on this program during my time here. This recognition is an incredible way to wrap up my career at Georgia.”
“We are so proud of Nicole and her contributions to this program and University as a whole.” added head coach Lizzy Stemke. “Nicole has such an incredibly positive personality that is contagious and her involvement in our community has been inspiring for our program.”
An active member in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, the Alpharetta, Ga. native has participated in Georgia’s “Walk with the Dawgs to School” initiative that promotes walking to school instead of driving for exercise and other SAAC community service events. She also helped plan a SAAC event that assisted the elderly with early Christmas shopping and
She was also recognized with the 2011 E.X.C.E.L. Award in the Grand Hall of the Tate Student Center at the Excellence in Education and Leadership Awards Ceremony. Sponsored by Intercultural Affairs, Department of Campus Life, the E.X.C.E.L. Awards honor junior and senior multicultural and international students who have maintained a standard of academic and extracurricular excellence in their college careers.
