BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Georgia volleyball team was picked to finish fourth in the Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division for the 2013 season, it was announced today by the league office.

The Bulldogs, who finished with a 14-19 overall record last season, including an 8-12 mark in the SEC, tallied 44 points from the league’s coaches.

Florida was tabbed to finish first in the Eastern Division, as well as take home the SEC title, earning 12 first place votes. Kentucky received one first place vote and was picked to finished second in the Eastern Division with 25 points. Missouri was selected to finish third in the East, followed by Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. 

In the Western Division, LSU and Texas A&M each received 21 points to share the top spot. Arkansas was selected to finish third, followed by Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Georgia kicks off its season Friday, August 30, when it takes on Lipscomb at 7 p.m., as part of the Georgia Bulldog Invitational.
