ATHENS, Ga. – Kaylee Kehoe and Lauren Teknipp of the Georgia volleyball team will participate in the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts taking place Feb. 21-23 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Kehoe and Teknipp join 248 athletes from 106 colleges at the tryouts. The pair is vying for spots on the U.S. Women’s National Team and/or U.S. Collegiate National Teams program (formerly U.S. Women’s Senior A2 Teams).
Teknipp and Kehoe led Georgia to its best season in recent history. The Bulldogs finished with a 22-10 record and set several milestones along the way. Among the highlights was reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004, recording its first 20-win season since 2002, earning the most wins (22) since 1994, recording the most Southeastern Conference wins (11) since 1995 and defeated then-No. 15 Kentucky at home in front of nearly 2,000 people and a nationally televised ESPN audience in Stegeman Coliseum.
Kehoe, a junior, played in all 122 sets last season and led the team with 744 assists, averaging over six assists per set. She was also effective from the service line, picking up a team-best 29 aces. She recorded four double-doubles last season and recorded 196 digs. She posted a career-best 35 assists at Mississippi State.
Teknipp finished second on the team with 280 kills last season and recorded an attack percentage of .277 over 119 sets. She also notched 57 blocks in her junior season. She posted a career-best 14 digs at LSU last season and had 13 double-digit kill performances.
