ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Georgia volleyball program has announced that registration has begun for the 2012 Lizzy Stemke Volleyball Camps. Registration for the camps is on a first come, first serve basis, so campers are encouraged to register early. There will be six sessions of the 2012 camp, with each focusing on technical and tactical training in a challenging and fun atmosphere.
"We are excited to be growing our Lizzy Stemke Volleyball Camps once again this summer," head coach Lizzy Stemke said. "We had a great turnout last year for our first camps as a new staff and we anticipate that this year will be even bigger and better. We will have the same options from last year with the addition of an overnight option for middle school age kids as well as a camp designed specifically for setters."
The Junior Bulldog Residential Camp will be held June 4-5 for campers ages 9-12. On June 9, there will be a one-day attacker camp followed by a one-day serving and passing camp on June 10. Both camps are for players between the ages of 13-18.
New for this year is a setter academy which is scheduled July 18-19, with a three-day, all skills residential camp to follow on July 20-22. Each camp is for player ages 13-18.
"As a former setter myself I am particularly excited about our first ever Setter Academy here at Georgia and based on much feedback from last year this is a skill camp that is in high demand," Stemke added.
A team developmental camp is the final camp of the summer and will be held July 26-28. The camp is designed for both JV and Varsity teams.
"We are eager to spread our sport across the region and beyond and we are looking forward to seeing everyone out this summer," continued Stemke.
