Laura Welch joined the University of Georgia in November of 2009 as a program specialist with the volleyball program. Welch is responsible for several behind-the-scenes aspects of the volleyball program including team travel, budgeting, assisting with visiting team practice arrangements and cataloging recruiting correspondence. Additionally, Welch serves as a liaison to the general public directing inquiries and relaying information about Bulldog volleyball and coordinates community service projects
A native of Ontario, Ore., Welch came to UGA from LAIKA Entertainment in Portland, Ore., where from 2008-09 she worked as an Assistant to the Director of Research and Development. Prior to her time at LAIKA, Welch served as head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach of the volleyball teams at Wilson High School from 2006-07 and Liberty High School in 2005.
Welch earned her undergraduate degree from Trinity Western in 2005 as a double major in Communications and Biblical Studies. Before completing her degrees at Trinity Western, Welch began her college education at Gordon College where she was a defensive specialist/libero. In 2002, she helped Gordon go 35-2 and advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
