Eli Sharping is in his first season as the volunteer assistant coach for the University of Georgia volleyball team.
Prior to coming to Georgia, Sharping served as the volunteer assistant coach for one season at the University of Wisconsin, helping the Badgers to a record of 17-16. His main duties at Wisconsin included assisting with opponent scouting, video exchange and on-campus recruiting.
The Itasca, Ill., native, spent five seasons as the head coach for the Capital Volleyball Academy in Madison, Wisc., where he coached the 16, 17 and 18 age levels. In his second season with CVA, Sharping led his squad to a ninth-place finish at the JVDA National Championships at the 18 Open Level. In 2010, his team placed fifth at the AAU National Championships at the 18 Open Level.
Sharping has also worked volleyball camps at several major universities, including Wisconsin, Marquette, Nebraska and Georgia.
Sharping has several years of playing experience, playing for the Wisconsin Men's Club Team from 2007-11, serving as a practice player for the Wisconsin women's team from 2008-11 and as a member of the Sports Performance Boys' Volleyball Club 2005-07. He was also an all-area, all-conference and an honorable mention all-state selection at Lake Park High School.
Sharping earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology in 2012 from Wisconsin.
