ATHENS--The Georgia women's tennis team will open the fall season of the 2013-14 schedule this weekend when it hosts the Bulldog Classic Friday through Sunday.

The event will feature singles and doubles competition in a round robin format with multiple flights with visiting players from N.C. State, South Florida and Old Dominion

"We just want to get matches under our belt," said head coach Jeff Wallace, who is entering his 29th season at the helm. "It's great to see our players in competition and that's where we want to shine. They've been practicing hard and I think we look great so far. I'm really excited with where we are at and am excited that we get to play somebody [besides ourselves]."

The Bulldogs return six players, all of who played key roles during the 2012-13 season. Third-ranked Lauren Herring and No. 14 Maho Kowase will anchor the Bulldogs singles play, and the second-ranked duo of Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia will lead Georgia in doubles competition.

"We've played a lot against each other," senior Kate Fuller said. "We've been beating each other up on the practice courts and playing the coaches trying to get ready so I think we're just really excited to get this season started."

Play will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. A complete schedule is listed below. Results will be posted on Georgiadogs.com at the end of each day.
