Athens, Ga.--All six members of the Georgia women's tennis team will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., this weekend to play in the Wolverine Invitational.
Georgia will join Arizona State, Florida, Iowa, Utah, Western Michigan and Michigan to play in its first tournament of the fall.
"We have been practicing hard and have been having a lot of fun," said head coach Jeff Wallace. "I'm pleased because we're showing a lot of energy out on the court. I think we've made some great strides and now it's time to get out there and start competing. We're looking forward to going up to Michigan. There are a lot of good players in the field."
Each team will play three rounds of singles and three rounds of doubles. There will be up to eight flights in singles and four flights in doubles per match-up. Points will be allotted for each win to determine the champion (singles and doubles) at the end of the weekend.
Georgia will start with doubles against Michigan on Friday morning at 10 a.m. ET.
The probable starting doubles line-up for Georgia will feature 30th-ranked Kate Fuller and Lauren Herring, 50th-ranked Maho Kowase and Lilly Kimbell, and Makenzie Craft and Kelli Jordan. Fuller and Herring went 26-12 last season, including five wins against ranked opponents. Kowase and Kimbell went 24-2 including a school record setting 22 wins in a row, a streak that is still active. Craft, a freshman, will see her first collegiate action paired with Jordan, a senior.
