Sophomore Lauren Herring
ATHENS, Ga. -- Four members of the Georgia women's tennis team earned spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason individual rankings.
Junior Maho Kowase is ranked No. 37, the highest ranked Georgia player. Kowase finished the 2011-12 campaign with a 25-8 record, including 11-4 against ranked opponents.
Sophomore Lauren Herring, last season's SEC Freshman of the Year, is ranked No. 53. The ITA Southeast Region Rookie of the Year finished her freshman campaign going 30-9.
Junior Kate Fuller begins the year at No. 62. She went 27-12 last year.
Fuller and Herring are one of two Bulldog doubles teams ranked in the ITA's preseason doubles rankings. Fuller and Herring, one of 12 different doubles teams that Georgia used last year, are No. 30. Kowase and fellow junior Lilly Kimbell are ranked No. 50. Kimbell and Kowase went 24-2 in 2011-12, including a record setting 22 wins in a row.
The first team rankings will be released in January.
The Bulldogs will make their fall debut in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Sept. 21-23.
