ATHENS, Ga.--Sophomore Lauren Herring improved to sixth in the country, headlining Georgia's three singles players and four doubles pairs in the latest rankings released Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Herring is 32-5 this year, fresh off victories over No. 114 Kaitlin Burns and No. 47 Yang Pang. Junior Maho Kowase, the winner of 11 matches in a row, is No. 19 and freshman Silvia Garcia is ranked No. 88.
In doubles, the duo of Garcia and junior Kate Fuller improved to No. 3. Georgia's top pairing is 18-1 this spring, having gone 2-0 this past weekend. They are the highest ranked tandem in the conference. Fuller is also ranked No. 46 with Herring, but they've yet to team up this spring. Kowase and junior Lilly Kimbell are ranked No. 57, while Herring and Kowase, who are 8-2 this spring, are ranked No. 64.
As a team, Georgia came in at No. 4 in the latest rankings.
Georgia will attempt to win its ninth SEC regular season title with wins over No. 22 Auburn and No. 8 Alabama this weekend.
