Georgia Bolts to No. 2 in Latest Rankings
Georgia travels to Arkansas and LSU

ATHENS, Ga.—The Georgia women’s tennis team improved to No. 2 in the latest rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs jumped seven spots to capture their highest rankings since April 2009.

Last weekend, Georgia went 2-0, shutting out both No. 7 Texas A&M and Missouri, 4-0. With Friday’s win over the Aggies, the Bulldogs beat their fourth Top-10 opponent this season.

Duke sits atop the list, followed by Georgia and UCLA. The SEC leads the country with seven teams include in the latest rankings, including five in the Top-10.

With its men’s team coming in at No. 8, Georgia is one of four schools to have both its men’s and women’s teams ranked inside the Top-10.

New rankings, including for singles and doubles, will be released next Tuesday. Georgia currently has four individuals ranked in singles and four pairs ranked in doubles, led by Lauren Herring at No. 6 in singles and Herring and Maho Kowase at No. 2 in doubles.

This weekend, Georgia travels to take on No. 47 Arkansas on Friday and No. 54 LSU on Sunday.
