ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia women's tennis team improved to No. 7 in the latest rankings released Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Bulldogs have been idle since participating in the 2014 ITA Indoor Team Championships from Feb. 7-9.

Georgia (4-2) also has four singles players and two doubles pairs currently ranked.

Sophomore Silvia Garcia and junior Lauren Herring headline the Georgia contingent at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. Garcia is 19-4 this year including 8-3 against ranked opponents. Herring is 18-4, and 10-3 versus ranked foes. Maho Kowase is ranked No. 17. The Bulldog senior, who went 3-0 in singles play at ITA National Team Indoors, leads the team with a 21-3 record. Lilly Kimbell rounds out Georgia's ranked players at the No. 43 spot.

In doubles, the duo of Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase are at the No. 5 spot. They are 20-3 this season and the winner of six matches in a row. Lilly Kimbell and Mia King are ranked No. 52.

The Bulldogs return to action this weekend playing host to Furman on Friday at 2:30 p.m. before traveling to Atlanta on Sunday to battle in-state rival Georgia Tech at 1 p.m.
