Georgia Perfect on Sunday at the Georgia Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. -- The Georgia women's tennis team  continued its perfection from Saturday into Sunday winning all of its matches to close out the 2011 Georgia Invitational.

Georgia's 67th-ranked Nadja Gilchrist started things off by beating Troy's Leonie Guijt 6-1, 6-0. Shortly after, Chelsey Gullickson, in only her second competitive match since September, beat the Trojan's Karoline Grymel 6-2, 6-0. Lilly Kimbell, ranked 95th, overpowered Troy's Lubov Dorafeeva 6-1, 6-1. Later, 97th-ranked Maho Kowase won against Trojan Olfa Dhaoui, 6-3, 6-2. Senior and 58th-ranked Cameron Ellis continued to play in dominating fashion defeating Troy's Gabriella Veiga  6-0, 6-0. Georgia's Kate Fuller notched the 6th Bulldog win of the day, defeating Troy's Rosaura Ramirez-Vega 6-1, 6-1. Georgia's Alina Jerjomina ended the day with a dominating win, 6-0, 6-0, against the Trojan's Olivia Battye.

Kowase was named the tournament's singles champion and the doubles pair of Kowase and Kimbell was named the tournament's doubles champion. In singles, Kowase went 3-0 this weekend and moved her overall record to 16-5. In doubles, Kowase and Kimbell went 3-0 bringing their overall record to 7-1.

Throughout the weekend, the Bulldogs went 21-1 and only dropping three sets in singles play. They went undefeated in doubles competition and only allowed one team to win more than 4 games in a match. In all matches, Georgia was 32-1.

"It's great whenever you play 33 matches and win 32 of them. I'm really pleased with the way we played and it was a great way to start 2011," said Head Coach Jeff Wallace. "But, now we have to get ready for the rest of the season. I told the team that we need to have three good days of practice to get ready for our first dual match on Friday."

The Georgia women's tennis team will return to action against Memphis on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts. Admission to the event is free.
