PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.----Georgia's Chelsey Gullickson and Nadja Gilchrist fell short in their bid for a collegiate grand slam doubles title Saturday.
In the quarterfinals of the Rivieria/ITA All-American Championships, the Gullickson/Gilchrist team registered a 9-8(2) win over the 28th-ranked Tennessee tandem of Brynn Boren and Sarah Toti. It was the second straight victory in a tiebreaker for the 15th-ranked Bulldog duo in the tournament as they snapped the Lady Vols five-match winning
streak.
However in the semifinals, the Bulldog duo was eliminated, falling 8-1 to the 11th-ranked Stanford team of Hilary Barte and Nicole Gibbs.
The Gullickson/Gilchrist team is now 7-1 this season. Up next, Georgia will play host to the Bulldog Tennis Classic, a singles and doubles round-robin tournament Oct. 14-16.
