PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.--Georgia junior Maho Kowase was eliminated from the main draw at the 2012 ITA All-American Championships after falling to Southern Cal's 8th-seeded Danielle Lao 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon.

"Maho played some great tennis at the All-American tournament," said head coach Jeff Wallace. "She won five matches and beat the No. 2 player in the country. If you take her progression over the last three years from not making it out of pre-qualifying, to not making out of qualifying and now getting to the main draw and getting to the quarterfinals, it's really amazing. She has really done a fantastic job."

Earlier in the day, Kowase beat second-seeded Zsofi Susanyi of Cal 6-3, 6-2 to punch her ticket to the quarterfinals.

Kowase won three matches in the qualifying draw earlier this week to garner a spot in the main draw.

The Georgia junior, ranked 37th in the country, is now 8-1 this fall.

Sophomore Lauren Herring, and junior Kate Fuller also participated in the event, each going 1-1 in singles and going 1-1 in doubles as a pair. All combined, Georgia went 8-4 in competition.

The Georgia women's tennis team will return to action Oct. 12-14 when it plays host to the Bulldog Invitational. Georgia's only home fall event will include players from the University of Virginia, Indiana University and the University of Utah.
