Pacific Palisades, Calif.—Two Georgia singles players and one Bulldog doubles tandem will start play in the main draw of the 2013 ITA/Riviera All-American Championships on Thursday.

The top-seeded duo of Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia will have a first-round bye before playing Thursday afternoon. In singles, No. 2 Lauren Herring will open with No. 15 Samantha Vickers of Tulsa. Maho Kowase, ranked No. 14 in the country, will face North Carolina’s No. 31 Caroline Price.

On Wednesday, Georgia’s remaining players in the qualifying draw were eliminated. The No. 50 tandem of Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase fell to No. 20 Robin Anderson and Jennifer Brady. It’s the pair’s first loss of the 2013-14 campaign. In singles, No. 60 Silvia Garcia was topped by North Carolina’s Hayley Carter, 6-0, 6-2.

Part of the collegiate grand slam, the All-American Championships will host more than 200 players over a two-week period. A pre-qualifying and qualifying round concluded Tuesday after starting over the weekend. The main draw will run through this weekend.

Singles quarterfinalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships Nov. 8-11 in New York, N.Y.
