Pacific Palisades, Calif.--Senior Lilly Kimbell won two singles matches and advanced with doubles partner Mia King to cap off the first day of play in the pre-qualifying draw at the 2013 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.

"Lilly played some great tennis today," said assistant coach Drake Bernstein. "She's gotten off to a really good start coming into her senior year. I know she's happy with it and we're happy for her. I'm looking forward to some good tennis tomorrow."

Lilly Kimbell topped Liza Tymchenko of Memphis 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 before beating  Melissa Kopinski of Illinois 6-3, 6-3. Kimbell needs one more singles win to advance to the qualifying draw. She will play an opponent to be determined Sunday morning.

Kimbell and doubles partner Mia King also advanced in the doubles draw, beating Ole Miss' Mai El Kamash and Julia Jones, 8-2. The tandem will be in action Sunday at 12:30 p.m. PT, and again at 2:30 p.m. PT if they advance. Kimbell and King will advance if they win two matches on Sunday.

Senior Kate Fuller and King both fell in their first singles matches.
