Senior Chelsey Gullickson enjoyed a perfect first day at the Hoosier Classic.

Bloomington, IND.----Georgia entries posted a strong showing in day one of the Hoosier Classic, going 6-1 in singles and a perfect 6-0 in doubles.
In flight one, Bulldog senior Chelsey Gullickson, ranked ninth nationally, cruised to a 6-4,6-1 win over 87th-ranked Jennifer Kellner (Notre Dame). Georgia sophomore Maho Kowase, ranked 56th, dispatched 80th-ranked Evgeniya Vertesheva (Indiana) 6-2, 6-1.
In flight three, Georgia freshman Lauren Herring defeated Carmen Borau (Kansas State) 6-1,6-0. Bulldog sophomore Alina Jerjomina fell 6-3,6-1 to Kayla Fujimoto (Indiana). In flight four, Georgia sophomore Rachael Hart outlasted Petra Chuda (Kansas State) 6-2,4-6,7-6(7).
The round-robin event features one doubles flight, and the three Bulldog tandems all went 2-0. The 15th-ranked team of Gullickson and Gilchrist beat Kyllman/Murdy (Indiana) 8-3 and then posted an 8-1 win over Sanders/White (Notre Dame). The Kowase/Hart duo registered an 8-4 win over Manningham/Sabcinski (Notre Dame) and then edged Chupa/Klyczek (Indiana) 9-7. These two Bulldog teams will square off against each other Saturday. Elsewhere in the doubles flight, the Fuller/Herring team, which is ranked 20th, recorded a pair of wins. First, they beat Kauss/Garre (Indiana) 8-5 and then defeated Kellner/McGaffigan (Notre Dame) 8-3.
“We had a very good first day here, and I was pleased with how everybody came out and competed,” said Georgia coach Jeff Wallace. “We won 12 of the 13 matches we played, and we’re aiming to come out each day and take care of business.”
