ATHENS---The Georgia women's tennis team was nearly perfect on Saturday at the Bulldog Classic, combining to win eight matches on the day.
In doubles flight one, No. 2 Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia capped off the doubles slate with an 8-4 win over USF's Loreto Alonso-Martinez and Kayla Rizzolo. With the win and a perfect record in flight one, Fuller and Garcia were named the Bulldog Classic doubles champions.
Later in singles competition, the Bulldogs were victorious in each of the singles flights.
Herring beat Old Dominion's Nikol Hristova, 6-1, 6-1, in singles flight one. In flight two, Kowase topped the Monarch's Ingrid Vojcinakova 6-3, 6-3. Garcia notched one of three Georgia shut outs with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Marijana Novakovic. In flight four, Fuller made quick work of Melissa Esnal Olguin, beating her 6-0 6-0. In flight five, King also got a shut out, beating Ivana Vukovic, 6-0, 6-0. In flight six, Kimbell picked up the Bulldogs' sixth singles win of the morning with a 6-1, 6-1 win over the Monarch's Nika Khmolovska.
The Bulldog Classic features singles and doubles flights in a round robin format. The final day of the Bulldog Classic will be Sunday and will feature singles play at 10 a.m. The event is being held at Dan Magill Tennis Complex and admission to the event is free.
