ATHENS---The Georgia women's tennis team got off to a perfect start on Friday at the Bulldog Classic, combining to win six singles matches and six doubles matches.

"Its fun to be out here competing," said head coach Jeff Wallace, now in his 29th season as Georgia women's tennis coach. "It's going to be a long year, but it will go quick.  It was a good day one of the Bulldog Classic for all of the players to come out in their draws and get wins and play at the level that they played at. I was impressed with our focus, our concentration and our effort. It's good to see our players competing against someone else besides practicing against each other."

In doubles flight one, No. 2 Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia began the day beating N.C. State's Elisha Hande and Nicole Martinez, 8-3. Then Georgia took down Old Dominion's Nikol Hristova and Aleksandra Mitrovska in the second round, 8-2

In doubles flight two, the No. 50 duo of Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase overwhelmed N.C. State's Joelle Kissell and Liza Fieldsend 8-1 in the opening round. In the second round, after trailing 3-4, Herring and Kowase reeled off five straight games to beat Ingrid Vojcinakova and Marijana Novakovic, 8-4.

In doubles flight three, Mia King and Lilly Kimbell started the day with an 8-0 shutout over the Wolfpack's Sophie Nelson and Christy Sipes and finished with an 8-1 victory against the Monarch's Melissa Esnal Olguin and Nika Khmolovska, 8-1.

Later in the day, the seven singles flights got underway. No. 101 Fuller was first off the court in singles, winning 6-3, 6-3 over USF's Garrido in flight four. In singles flight two, No. 14 Kowase beat USF's Alonso 6-1, 6-2. In singles flight three, Garcia continued the Bulldogs' winning, with a 6-2, 6-1 over the Bulls' Fracassi. Later, in singles flight one, Herring overwhelmed the Bulls' Rizzolo 6-1, 6-2. Georgia closed the day with wins in flights five and six as King beat Martinez 6-3, 6-3 and Kimbell won 6-2, 6-2 over Bessonova.
