ATHENS, Ga.--The No. 9 Georgia women's tennis team blanked Missouri 4-0 Sunday afternoon, capping a perfect weekend and improving to 15-3 on the season and 8-1 in conference play. The Bulldogs are one of three teams that sit atop the SEC standings with just one loss in conference play.

"Today was very exciting," said head coach Jeff Wallace. "This was a great experience. We had a great crowd and I thought they gave us a big boost throughout the day. It had an NCAA-like atmosphere and our players did a great job. It was tight at the beginning but we were able to step it up and finish strong."

The match was part of the new USTA College MatchDay series, and was broadcasted live in front of an ESPN3 national audience with singles played first and doubles to be played only if necessary in tiebreaker format.

Georgia won all six first singles sets, and won matches on courts four, five and six before clinching the match on court two.

In singles, freshman Caroline Brinson started the scoring, beating Tracy Dong, 6-0, 6-1. The Bulldog freshman is now 5-1 this season. Right after, Georgia increased its lead to 3-0 when No. 63 Lilly Kimbell beat Madison Rhyner, 6-3, 6-0 and Kate Fuller topped Cassidy Spearman, 6-3, 6-2. No. 19 Silvia Garcia clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-0 defeat of Kelli Hine. The clincher was Garcia's third of the spring. With the match outcome decided, the remaining matches were suspended.

The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend at No. 45 Arkansas on Friday before traveling to No. 49 LSU on Sunday.
