ATHENS, Ga.--The fourth-ranked Georgia women's tennis team remained undefeated Saturday, beating No. 13 Clemson 7-0 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts. The Bulldogs have now won six straight over the Tigers.


"We did everything well today," said head coach Jeff Wallace. "We came out with good energy and played really great in the doubles in those critical junctures and then got off to some great starts in singles. I really felt like each person who came on the court did the things we've been working on and obviously the result showed that. We're excited."


The Bulldogs won the doubles point with wins won courts one and three. The No. 5 duo of Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase were first off the court with a 6-3 win over Clemson's Beatrice Gumulya and Jessy Rompies. Georgia's pair of Caroline Brinson and Lilly Kimbell won the match's final three games to beat Joana Eidukonyte and Romy Koelzer, 6-4. Kate Fuller and Silvia Garcia led 5-1 when their match was suspended.


In singles, No. 4 Herring overwhelmed No. 74 Koroleva, 6-1, 6-2 to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. A short time later, No. 33 Kimbell came from behind to win 1-6 , 6-2, 1-0 (10-3). Georgia clinched the match when No. 10 Garcia controlled No. 51 Romy Koelzer in a 6-3, 6-3 win.


With the match outcome decided, Mia King raced to a 6-2, 6-2 win against Jessy Rompies and Fuller rolled to a 6-2, 7-5 win over Ani Maio.




Brinson played an exhibition singles match and beat Eidukonyte, 6-3, 6-1.


Georgia will travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the 2014 ITA National Team Indoor Championships set to begin Feb. 7. The tournament will last through Sunday, Feb. 10 and will feature the top-ranked programs in the country.
