ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia softball head coach Lu Harris-Champer has announced that Chaycie Goggins of Newnan, Ga., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bulldogs beginning in 2014-15.
“Chaycie is an elite athlete,” Harris-Champer said. “She is a tremendous competitor with so many physical gifts on the softball field that include the rare combination of speed and power. We believe that she can contribute quickly to our team and are looking forward to her being a key part of our club.”
Goggins comes to Georgia after playing three seasons at Newnan High School under Head Coach Carrie Gilmore. A shortstop and third baseman, Goggins also spent one season at Arlington Christian School where she was named the Rookie of the Year and a 2010-11 GISA 1AAA All-Region team member. In her sophomore season, her first at Newnan, Goggins earned GHSA All-Region honors and earned the All-County Newcomer Award. Following her junior season, Goggins was an all-county selection and again named to the GHSA All-Region team. This past season as a senior, Goggins was named Newnan’s MVP.
In addition to her high school experience, Goggins played for the Atlanta Vipers Loveless under Head Coach Vic Loveless.
Goggins was also a member of the Arlington Christian School basketball team, which won the Region 2AAA Championship, as well as the state championship.
Goggins is the daughter of Tracy and Lisa Goggins.
Goggins is the fifth of six signees to be announced as part of the Georgia signing class that will join the program in 2014-15. Georgia will reveal a new member of the signing class each day until all six have been announced.
