LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Three members of the University of Georgia softball team have earned Easton All-American honors. Paige Wilson was named to the Division I First Team, while Geri Ann Glasco and Kaylee Puailoa each earned second team honors. Wilson, Glasco and Puailoa are among 40 athletes, including 11 from the Southeastern Conference, from 22 institutions on the Easton All-American Team.
The trio helped the Bulldogs to a 40-21 record this past season, including a 14-9 mark in the Southeastern Conference and the program’s 12th NCAA Tournament appearance.
Wilson was named to the NFCA All-Region Second Team after leading the team with a .403 batting average. An everyday starter for the Bulldogs, Wilson was one of the most consistent hitters in the Georgia lineup, hitting both for average and for power. This season, Wilson tallied 81 hits that included 13 doubles, two triples and 16 home runs. She drove in a team-best 66 RBI and slugged .726. The Chicago, Ill., native was a First Team All-SEC selection and ranked near the top of several offensive categories in SEC play, including on-base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBI, slugging percentage, batting average and total bases. In the final regular-season series for Georgia, Wilson hit three home runs, including two in a single game against No. 8/7 LSU, marking the first time in her career that she has hit two home runs in a single game. For her efforts that weekend, she became the first Georgia player since 2011 to earn SEC Player of the Week honors. Wilson also hit two grand slams in one weekend this year, both coming against Radford in non-conference play.
A NFCA First Team All-Region selection, the SEC Co-Freshman of the Year and SEC All-Freshman team member, Glasco led the team with 19 home runs this season, setting the Georgia freshman home run record. She also set the freshman RBI record with 61 RBI, second most on the team. Her .363 batting average ranked third on the team and included 65 hits and 11 doubles. She also slugged .743 year, had an on-base percentage of .461 and led the team with 34 walks. She was named the SEC Freshman of the Week three times and became the first player in Georgia history to earn National Player of the Week honors twice in the same season. Against league foes, Glasco led the SEC in home runs with 11 and led all SEC freshmen with 22 RBI. Against South Carolina this year, she tied an SEC record and set a Georgia record with three home runs in a single game.
Puailoa was a NFCA First Team All-Region selection, the only freshman in the conference to earn First Team All-SEC honors and was a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team. She ranked second on the team with a .380 batting average, finishing with 65 hits, including 11 doubles and 54 RBI. The Buena Park, Calif., native broke the UGA freshman home run record with 16 round trippers this season, good for a tie for second on the team, and slugged .725 for the year. Puailoa finished the SEC season ranked near the top of many offensive categories, including batting average, slugging percentage on base percentage, hits, home runs, total bases and hit by pitches. She also earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors once this season.
