ATHENS, Ga. --- The fourth-ranked University of Georgia softball team will play four games this week traveling to face No. 23 Georgia Tech Wednesday before hosting a three-game, Southeastern Conference series with Ole Miss this weekend at Jack Turner Stadium.
Georgia (35-6) travels to Mewborn Field to play Georgia Tech (34-7) on Wednesday evening. First pitch of the in-state rivalry game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The two schools met earlier this year in Athens, and the Bulldogs won that meeting 10-2 in five innings.
After the short journey to Atlanta for the midweek contest, Georgia (11-5 SEC) returns to conference play at home with Ole Miss (13-29, 3-14 SEC) coming to Athens for a three-game series starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Game two will be on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and the first 300 fans will receive a Georgia koozie. Game three on Sunday starts at 1:30 p.m. and the first 500 fans to that contest will receive a Georgia softball tumbler glass.
Georgia head coach Lu Harris-Champer is closing in a few coaching milestones. Currently in her 15th season overall and 11th at UGA, Harris-Champer has coached 998 games for a record of 746-251-1. Pending any unforeseen changes to the schedule this week, Harris-Champer will coach game number 1,000 in the Georgia-Ole Miss series opener. With four more wins, Harris-Champer will reach collegiate coaching victory number 750. Additionally, Harris-Champer has coached the Bulldogs to 195-105 record in SEC games during her tenure at UGA.
