OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - University of Georgia student-athletes Alisa Goler and Taylor Schlopy were named two-of-10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for softball according to an announcement made on Monday.
Goler and Schlopy were initially named to a list of 30 softball student-athlete candidates who excel both on and off the field in February. On Monday, that list was narrowed to 10 finalists as determined by a national media committee and Georgia was the only school to place two student-athletes among the finalists.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote via the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award website www.seniorclassaward.com or on the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Facebook fan page here through May 10.
Fan votes will be combined with media and coaches votes to determine the winner. Fan balloting counts for one-third of the total with the remaining two-third determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members. Fans may vote once per day.
Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the winner June 3 at the NCAA Women's College World Series® in Oklahoma City.
