ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia softball team will welcome USC Upstate to Jack Turner Stadium on Wednesday before traveling to Gainesville, Fla., for a three-game, Southeastern Conference series with second-ranked Florida.
Georgia (23-4, 5-3 SEC) saw its four-week stint at the nation's No. 1-ranked team come to an end with the latest release of the national polls on Tuesday. The now third-ranked Bulldogs took two games at South Carolina last Wednesday but were swept in a three-game series over the weekend by Alabama, the new top-ranked team.
The Bulldogs will look to get back into the win column tomorrow when they play host to the USC Upstate Spartans, who will come to Athens with a 28-2 record, a team batting average of .340 and a staff earned run average of just 0.99. The Spartans only two losses came to sixth-ranked Washington.
First pitch between the Bulldogs and Spartans is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET and admission is free. Live stats and audio will also be available through www.georgiadogs.com.
After the midweek contest, Georgia returns to the road and to SEC play as it travels to face Florida (30-1, 7-0 SEC) on the weekend at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The Bulldogs and Gators will play a set of games with game one of the series on Friday at 5 p.m., game two Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and game three Sunday at 1 p.m.
Georgiadogs.com will carry live audio for all three games of the UGA-UF series, and live stats will be available via www.gatorzone.com.
Including the three games at Alabama (29-1) and the four games scheduled for this week, Georgia will play a stretch of seven contests against opponents with only a combined four losses on the year.
