Softball to Host 10th Annual Georgia Softball Classic

ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 13/14 University of Georgia softball team gets back in action on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m., when it takes on Campbell, before hosting Northwestern at 5:30 p.m., as part of the 10th Annual Georgia Softball Classic. The Bulldogs owns a 44-3 all-time record in the Georgia Softball Classic, including a 4-0 mark last season. Georgia has seen each of its opponents at least once in program history. Georgia leads the all-time series with Campbell 7-1, with the last meeting coming last season when the Bulldogs came away with a 10-1, six-inning win over the Camels. Georgia and Northwestern have seen one another just twice in program history and are tied with one win each. The last meeting came in 2000 when Georgia took a 5-3 win over the Wildcats. The Bulldogs and Middle Tennessee State have met just one time, with Georgia taking an 8-0, five-inning win over the Blue Raiders.

Quick Notes
Fresh Faces: All eight of Georgia's freshmen saw action last weekend, with seven of them getting starts. In the opening game, the Bulldogs had six freshmen, two sophomores and a senior in the starting lineup. In all, the starters had a combined three years of experience, the least amount among SEC schools
Glasco: Geri Ann Glasco had a solid start to her freshman campaign over the weekend. She led the team with a .429 batting average that including three doubles and a home run. She scored twice and drove in five runs, while drawing four walks. She has hit safely in all but one game this season and has hit a double in each of her last three games. She also saw time in the circle, getting two wins and earning an ERA of 1.87 in a team-leading 15 innings of work. She allowed nine hits and struck out 17, while walking just two batters. She notched a career-high nine strikeouts against Ohio State.
Wilson's Hit Streak: Paige Wilson extended her hit streak to 17 games in a streak that dates back to April 29, 2012 at LSU. The streak is the fourth longest in program history. Wilson hit for the cycle over the weekend, finishing with six hits, including two doubles, a triple and a home run, five runs and seven RBI, while slugging .722.
Reaching Safely: The Bulldogs have three players reach safely in all five games last weekend. Paige Wilson, Geri Ann Glasco and Samantha LaZear each reached safely in the first games of the 2013 season. Niaja Griffin reached in four of the first five games, while Tess Sito got on base in three games during in the opening weekend.
