TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 4 seeded University of Georgia softball team dropped a 1-0 decision to the top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide in the semifinal round of the Southeastern Conference Softball Tournament on Friday evening in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Erin Arevalo suffered the loss to fall to 23-7 on the year after allowing one run on three hits in a complete-game performance. Jackie Traina pitched up her second win in as many days top move to 33-2 on the season. She allowed six hits, three walks and struck out five in a complete game shutout.
Paige Wilson went 3-for-3 with a pair of singles to lead the Bulldogs offensively.
Georgia looked to get things started in the top of the first, with Tess Sito and Wilson each recording infield singles. With one away and runners at the corners, Kristyn Sandberg, Wilson was called for leaving early. A fly out to center ended the scoring threat.
The Crimson Tide took a 1-0 lead with a solo home run off the bat of Conley in the bottom of the third inning.
Georgia put a pair of runners in scoring position in the top of the fourth inning. Wilson led off the inning with her second single of the day. Sandberg followed with a walk that put runners at first and second. Ashley Razey moved the runners into scoring position with a fly out to center, before Traina settled in to record the final two outs of the inning.
