ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 19 Georgia softball team (29-15, 3-12) fell 5-2 in the series finale against Mississippi State (31-14, 6-9) on Sunday afternoon at Jack Turner Stadium.

MSU used a pair of home runs from Caroline Seitz to seal the series, as Seitz finished the weekend with four home runs. The Starkville Bulldogs had three hits on the day while also reaching base on a pair of errors. Amanda Ablan (0-1) took the loss, going the first 3.1 innings with two hits and four runs, two earned, against her while walking three and striking out one.

Alexis Silkwood (13-4) earned the win after giving up five hits and three walks to Georgia. Jordan Doggett reached in two of her at-bats with a hit and walk while scoring in one of her base trips.

Doggett helped the offense get going in the third with her walk before moving on a sacrifice bunt from Kendall Burton. A hit from Cortni Emanuel put the runners at the corners for Sydni Emanuel to hit Doggett in for the 1-0 lead. The advantage increased by one, as S. Emanuel made her way home on a hit from Alyssa DiCarlo.

MSU changed the momentum in the next frame, as Seitz put up a two-run home run to knot it up. A hit and walk put two more on for an error to let them score and make it 4-2. Seitz added her last home run in the fifth to give MSU an extra insurance run.

Georgia stays at home for a midweek contest against Georgia State on Wednesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network+/WatchESPN.
