ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 19 Georgia softball team (29-14, 3-11) rallied past Mississippi State (30-14, 5-9) on Saturday afternoon to secure a 7-6 victory at Jack Turner Stadium.

Down 3-1 after three played, MSU's Caroline Seitz hit her second grand slam in as many days to give MSU the lead; however, a long ball shot from Maeve McGuire tied it up in the fifth before a RBI single from Alyssa DiCarlo in the sixth sealed the win to knot up the series.

The offense posted 11 hits on the day, as the top of the order with Cortni Emanuel, DiCarlo and Sydni Emanuel put up two hits apiece along with Alysen Febrey. McGuire led the team with two runs scored and two RBI.

Mary Wilson Avant (6-6) earned the win after 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits and striking out two. Amanda Ablan started the game with five hits and nine walks to her line while fanning five.

Georgia jumped out early in the second, as a Febrey double set up McGuire to score on a wild pitch before Febrey came in on a RBI from Mahlena O'Neal. After MSU cut it to one in the third, Georgia earned back a run with a RBI double from Lacey Sumerlin.

MSU did its damage with a five-run fourth, recording three hits, including the grand slam, and three walks in the frame. However, Georgia never wavered, putting up four unanswered throughout its final three frames while the defense stranded six MSU runners, including a web gem of a diving catch from S. Emanuel to leave them loaded.

The teams will meet for the rubber match on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on SEC Network+/WatchESPN. There will be a free egg hunt following the game while admission is free at Jack Turner Stadium.
