ATHENS, Ga. --- Tied at four going to the sixth, Mississippi State (30-13, 5-8) put up a grand slam to help seal a 9-4 victory over the No. 19 Georgia softball team (28-14, 2-11) on Friday night.

MSU took an early 3-2 lead before an error allowed a pair of Georgia runners in and give the home team its first lead after four played; however, MSU put up six unanswered in the final frames to earn the series' first win.

Mary Wilson Avant (5-6) took the loss after going four innings of relief with seven hits and six runs allowed, with four earned. Kylie Bass and Amanda Ablan saw three combined innings, as MSU totaled 12 hits in the game and capitalized on three Georgia errors.

The offense posted four hits against MSU's Cassady Knudsen (7-3). The top three of the order each tabbed one, including Alyssa DiCarlo recording her 10th home run of the season and finishing with two RBI for the night. Brea Dickey added the other hit while also scoring a run.

Both teams posted a run in the first inning before MSU took over the lead in the third with a two-RBI double from Reggie Harrison. DiCarlo cut the lead to 3-2 with a two-out solo home run over the left field wall in the bottom half.

Georgia was then able to gain the lead with Maeve McGuire and Dickey scoring on a visitors' miscue. MSU would rally back in the fifth, though, to tie it before Caroline Seitz's grand slam but the team up for good.

Georgia and Mississippi State meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET and will be featured on SEC Network+/WatchESPN.
