Highlights from Saturday's softball doubleheader against South Carolina where the Bulldogs split but won the series against the Gamecocks.

ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 15/17 Georgia softball team suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of South Carolina in the second game of the series in front of 1,482 fans at Jack Turner Stadium in Athens, Ga., in the first game of a doubleheader. With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 32-6 on the year and 7-4 in Southeastern Conference action. South Carolina moved to 25-13 on the year and 6-8 in league play.
Chelsea Wilkinson suffered the loss to fall to 19-4 on the year. She allowed one run on one hit and three walks in 1.2 innings of relief. Geri Ann Glasco threw the first 5.1 innings for the Bulldogs after earning the start. She threw 5.1 innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out two. Nickie Blue earned the win to improve to 14-5 on the year. She allowed three hits and struck out seven in the complete-game performance.
The offenses remained relatively quiet over the first six innings, as the teams combined for just five hits.
South Carolina scored the first run of the game in the top of the seventh inning, but it was all it needed, as the Gamecocks went on to win 1-0. A double and a walk put two on for Ashlyn Masters who was intentionally walked to load the bases with two outs. The next batter worked the count full before drawing a walk that drove in Kate Shereyk for the winning run. Wilkinson got the final batter to pop up to third to end the inning with the bases still loaded.
Georgia had chances to score in the third and fourth innings, getting two runners on in each inning. Bethany Beggs and Samantha LaZear recorded infield singles in the third. In the fourth, Glasco reached on a two out walk and moved to third on a double by Tina Iosefa before the final out was recorded.
The Bulldogs will look to take the series in the second game of the doubleheader on Saturday, April 5.
