ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia soccer assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Robin Confer has been named the head women’s soccer coach at the University of North Florida, the university has announced.
Confer will join the Ospreys staff following nine seasons with the Bulldogs. During that time, Georgia played in four NCAA tournaments and advanced to the second round three times.
“We are all very excited for Robin and the wonderful opportunity she has ahead of her,” said UGA head coach Steve Holeman. “She has been one of the top assistant coaches in the country for many years, and I feel confident that her experience will pay huge dividends as the new head coach at North Florida. I can't thank her enough for all she has done for the Georgia soccer program and wish her nothing but the best in this next step of her coaching career.”
The opportunity at UNF allows Confer return to her home state of Florida and move closer to family. A native of Clearwater, Fla., Confer was a standout at Clearwater Central Catholic High School finishing her prep career with 227 goals including 80 in her senior season prior to a record-breaking playing career at North Carolina.
