Soccer defender Torri Allen landed on the NSCAA All-South Region first team.
Dec. 5, 2012
ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia junior defender Torri Allen picked up another postseason honor this week, named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division I Women’s All-South Region first team, the organization announced.
Allen’s honor comes on the heels of capturing second team All-SEC recognition following the 2012 season. The Stafford, Va., native started all 20 games and logged the second-most minutes among Bulldog field players with 1,811. As an anchor on the Georgia back line, Allen played a key role for a defense that limited opponents to 1.10 goals per game and posted six shutout efforts. She also came away with two defensive saves – a rare stat given to defensive players for directly preventing a goal.
In 2010, Allen was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and was a member of the NSCAA All-South Region third team as a rookie.
