ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia soccer team will play its second preseason exhibition of the 2014 season this Saturday night when it hosts league rival Auburn at 7 p.m. at the UGA Soccer Stadium. The scrimmage is open to the public and admission is free.
The Bulldogs opened preseason camp last week, then played on the road at Clemson just four days later.
Georgia and Auburn will not play one another during the 2014 regular season. In 2013, the teams played to a scoreless tie in Auburn. The Bulldogs are 9-8-3 in the all-time series.
Georgia kicks off the regular season next week, squaring off against Ole Miss in Oxford on Fri., Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. ET, marking the first in-season live event to be broadcast on the brand new SEC Network.
The Bulldogs return six starters and 17 letterwinners from last season, while bringing in 13 freshmen. Headlining the returning group is sophomore Marion Crowder, who led Georgia in goals (11) and points (23) in 2013 on her way to All-SEC and All-Region honors as a rookie.
Georgia will be aiming for its fifth NCAA Tournament bid in the last eight seasons, and ninth overall, in 2014.
