MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA --- Georgia soccer incoming freshman Mariel Gutierrez and her Mexico U-20 squad earned another 1-1 tie – this time with England – in their second game at the Women’s World Cup at Moncton Stadium in New Brunswick on Saturday. The tie comes after a draw with Nigeria by the same score last week.
Mexico now takes on Korea Republic on Wed., Aug. 13 – looking for a good result to advance out of a wide-open Group C and continue in the tournament. Gutierrez – who will join her Bulldog teammates on campus after the tournament – got the start on defense for the second game in a row and again played all 90 minutes.

The U-20 World Cup is set to run through Aug. 24, with Gutierrez’s squad making its fifth consecutive trip and sixth overall.
Georgia unofficially opened the 2014 season last night, dropping an exhibition contest to Clemson by a 3-0 score on the road. The Bulldogs host Auburn this Saturday at 7 p.m. in another exhibition test.
